I became interested in photography as a teenager in the 1960s and particularly enjoyed taking photos of my walks and climbs in the Scottish Highlands. But family and work responsibilities meant that, from around 1980, most of my photography was family and holiday snaps. Around 2010, I rediscovered photography and bought my first DSLR. I realised that I had an awful lot to learn and I joined Bon-Accord Camera Club in 2015, with the aim of improving my photography. While I admire outstanding single images, I prefer taking and curating groups of images on a related theme.
To reflect this, I’ve chosen a group of images taken in Edinburgh – a place I have visited regularly for work and to visit family for the past 20 years. I’ve tried here to avoid the usual tourist cliches.
